It’s sad that they don’t make places like these anymore. Lively, affordable & simple place with very warm staff & prompt service. No rush to leave. No young people only obsessed with aesthetic photos of food and themselves. Eggs & mutton dosa are available which is a treat to find around here.

A very famous name and a popular place that every citizen mentions. A place that connects every professional and connects people irrespective of religion and caste. As a new visitor, I noticed that the staff is well-dressed and well-mannered. But the place is quite noisy due to the crowd. There is no RO water. Eggs are served here, so vegetarians and vegans should be careful. The coffee at Famous Coffee House was very ordinary and I didn't notice any significant difference. Taste is a personal matter. Other dishes are also served here, which you can enjoy.

The food here is upto the marks,although they need to work upon coconut chutney in particular,as it was similar in taste and texture with some street side stall,also the sauce they serve is of cheap quality. Rest the service,vibes of place is top notch,as like old raj days, you can witness some serious discussions from pov retired government servants. Also good thing is that there is separate dine in place equipped with AC for families.

A very old chain of coffee houses run by the employees cooperative society. It has branches all over India. I have visited their branches in Chandigarh, Gwalior, Kocchi and Shimla. Lot of memories with this place . When I passed my 10th in 1975 , visited here with some friend and paid Rs1.07 for one Masala Dosa. For same Dosa, This time I paid Rs 160 on 22/8/25. Place not well maintained but neat and clean and people like me will always visit this place .

On my recent visit, I decided to try their masala dosa. While it wasn't the most exceptional I've ever had, it certainly provided a decent and familiar taste. The overall experience, however, was more about soaking in the ambiance and the enduring charm of this well-regarded Prayagraj institution.

Classic old timer charm of the Indian Coffee House experience. Air conditioned section for ‘families’ is a bonus, although they should also allow gentlemen patrons who are willing to spend the extra GST to access the AC section.

The building with an impressive facade of the Raj era lies in an area full of malls and shopping centres looking like a relic from the past. The crowd are mostly from the Allahabad university,High court and vibrant political,literary and artistry types. The interiors and waiters in white uniforms also take you to Raj Era. The food is very average but the feel of the place is awesome. The service is also great. Visit is always recommended…
